Coach Bags

Coach bags are fashionable yet, in most cases, reasonably priced, compared to their high-end cousins, Prada, Vuitton or Chanel. So, why would anyone buy a fake Coach bag instead of investing in the real deal? Because Coach knock-offs are somewhat difficult to detect unless the purchaser is very familiar with genuine Coach products and knows what to look for. In some cases, a very real appearing fake may be purchased unwittingly while a real Coach bag is setting right next to it. Here are some tips for determining the genuine from the fake Coach bag.

First of all, get to know your Coach bags, if that is your interest. Do some research. Look at many pictures of well-known Coach products such as the Novelty Stripe Large Straw Basket or the Signature Stripe Shearling Tote and get a feel for them. If you are shopping and you see a bag that just looks out of place for a Coach bag, chances are it is a fake. This method takes some time but while you are looking, you are becoming somewhat of an expert on Coach bags. This may help you out down the road a piece.

Look at the Coach emblem on the bag. Notice the "CCs?" The Cs are facing each other but they should not touch. The sewing seams should go right down the middle of the facing Cs. This pattern should appear to be of even alignment, both vertically and horizontally. This is a dead giveaway. If your Cs don't line up or the seam is not down the very middle of them, it is a fake Coach. You can find a picture of the genuine Coach emblem by visiting the Coach website, www.coach.com.

It is known that most Coach hand bags, especially the medium to large ones, will have a serial number stamped on the inside of the purse. It is on a square patch of leather, which is sewn into the purse, not glued in. You should get to know the style numbers of Coach purses and bags as the serial number will match the specific style of the bag. The fakes do not always do this. They may have a fake serial number that has nothing to do with the actual style or model number. Another fact is that the smaller purse models may not have a serial number stamped in them but they should always at least have the square patch of leather.

If you're buying online and the pictures of the bags are out of focus, there is a reason for it. The scammer does not want you to be able to discern the fake from the genuine article so pass up the out of focus pictures on online auctions or web sites if you are determined to have a genuine Coach article. If the web master does not care about the clarity of the handbags, chances are he does not want your verification of his products. This should be a dead giveaway for you, the purchaser.

Here is another great telltale sign: The zipper is fixed. Yes, you see the part of the zipper that actually pulls the two zippers apart, will have the following embossed on it: "YKK." Coach uses the very best zippers and this is a sign of the very best zipper manufacturers. The knock-offs will not have this on the zippers because they don't use the highest quality zippers as they're too expensive.

Coach has some of their bags made overseas so it is not unusual to have a bag that is made in either China, India or Turkey. These may be legitimate Coach bags; however, if the bag is made in Korea, beware, because Coach does not have any of their merchandise produced in Korea.

Make sure that all stitching is aligned and straight. If it is not, it is a fake. Coach does not accept any poor quality stitching in their products.
